I work with individuals, couples, families, as well as organizations, businesses providing psychotherapy and counselling.
I have been a psychotherapist and counsellor for 30 years. I have been in Vanuatu for over three years and I am here permanently so am committed to Vanuatu and its people.
My job is to listen, my job is to hear and understand what the client is saying or not saying.
Together put some very dfficult feelings, memories, events into words. Being seen, being really heard is the beginning of the healing journey. As we go along we together understand how the person, protects themself - what they do or dont how they pretend , hide etc. to keep away deep pain, hurt, shame, grief.
Kinds of problems people bring to me
wori tumas, sad tumas -tired all the time
not sleeping, too much kava
anger at family or at work
feel used by others, taken advantage of-demands of money, their time., their skill, lookinbg after others....
lying to themselfand "get caught out". ( cheating, gambling, adiksen)
feel 'bad' about themself. Often they work, are busy all the time but get back very little from others but feel stuck, powerless to make changes.
how people
Lot of the issues I see in my clinic room for both men and women are effects of the harm from family sexual abuse/rape, control and violence issues.
Neglect is also damaging because it destroys trust and safety - neglect what a person a child teen adult doesn't get they need - food shelter, medicine, school, caring toktok, comfort. Often these begin in childhood within families. I also see conflict with gender and role issues - powerlessness and helplessness.
Toktok therapy can work.
