Job Description: Country Manager – Tropical Agency Ltd, Vanuatu

Role Purpose:
The Country Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of Tropical Agency Ltd’s operations and strategic initiatives in Vanuatu. This role ensures sustainable and profitable growth by effectively managing people, customers, and resources in alignment with the broader Tropical Agency team.

As the senior representative of the company in Vanuatu, this role engages with customers, suppliers, media, government, and non-government agencies, while upholding and promoting the Tropical Agency Ltd brand. The Country Manager also leads efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff in Vanuatu, whether permanently based or visiting.

Role Accountabilities / Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement business strategies to achieve growth and operational excellence.

Ensure alignment of local operations with the overall corporate vision and objectives.

Commercial

Drive financial performance and profitability through effective resource management.

Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

People Management

Lead, mentor, and develop local teams to maximize performance and engagement.

Foster a positive and safe workplace culture.

Crisis Management

Take a lead role in managing emergencies, risks, and safety issues impacting staff or operations.

Key Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification (minimum degree) in Business or a related discipline.

Technical Skills:

Over 10 years of proven success in senior management roles.

Experience in the Shipping Industry with exposure to multiple business departments.

Strong background in Sales and Marketing.

Understanding of the global market.

Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.

Professional Skills:

Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.

Strong budgeting, financial management, and cost control capabilities.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.

Exceptional relationship-building skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Effective presentation and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in technology, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
