Organisation Overview:
IPDS manages the Lapetasi International Container Terminal (LICT) through a public-private partnership arrangement with the Government of Vanuatu. The company is responsible for container terminal operations, stevedoring services, and transport-related activities across Efate Island.

Position Summary:
The Engineering Superintendent will oversee mechanical maintenance operations while ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements. The role includes supporting and enforcing safety procedures, reviewing maintenance policies, and promoting a secure working environment for maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities involve coordinating the installation, inspection, repair, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will supervise mechanical technicians, assign daily duties, and ensure maintenance tasks are completed to the required standard. The position also requires managing planned maintenance activities, coordinating emergency repairs, monitoring labour resources, and arranging materials needed for maintenance operations.

Additional duties include maintaining workplace cleanliness, productivity, and quality standards within the mechanical maintenance department. The role will also support the management and operation of the maintenance system (MEX) in coordination with procurement staff, while carrying out any further responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should possess a degree, diploma, or recognized trade qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field. A valid medical certificate is required, along with at least five years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within heavy transport or industrial sectors. Candidates must also hold Vanuatu citizenship or residency status.

Preferred Skills:
Experience in automotive electrical systems would be considered an advantage. Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, databases, and computerized maintenance management systems, is highly desirable. A valid driver’s license is also preferred.
