Ifira Ports Development & Services Co. Ltd. (IPDS Ltd) operates the Lapetasi International Container Terminal (LICT) under a public-private partnership with the Government of Vanuatu. The company is responsible for stevedoring, container terminal operations, and transportation services on Efate.

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team. You will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical operations, ensuring workplace safety, and maintaining high standards of equipment performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct, maintain, and enforce the company’s safety program.
Assist in reviewing safety policies and procedures for all maintenance personnel.
Supervise, assign tasks to, and inspect the work of mechanical technicians.
Coordinate the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical engineering equipment.
Oversee planned mechanical maintenance and emergency repair work.
Manage procurement of materials and control labour efficiently.
Maintain effective health & safety systems including risk assessments and SOPs.
Ensure cleanliness, productivity, and high-quality work standards in the maintenance department.
Operate and maintain the Maintenance Management System (MEX) in conjunction with the Purchasing Officer.
Perform additional duties as directed by management.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent trade qualification from a recognized institution.
Valid medical certificate.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the heavy transport industry.
Must be a resident or citizen of Vanuatu.

Desirable:

Experience in auto-electrics (distinct advantage).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and computerized maintenance systems (distinct advantage).
Valid driver’s license.
