The Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT) is seeking to fill two important handyman positions within our facilities maintenance team. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and relevant skills in plumbing or electrical work to help us maintain a safe, functional, and efficient learning environment.
Position: Handyman (Plumbing Skills)
Location: Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), Port Vila
Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Job Description: The Handyman with Plumbing Skills will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of plumbing-related tasks to ensure the smooth running of VIT’s buildings and infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform maintenance, repairs, and installations related to water supply, drainage systems, and sanitation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to plumbing systems, including water pipes, drainage, and fixtures.
2. Install new plumbing systems, appliances, and equipment as needed.
3. Conduct plumbing inspections and identify issues that require attention.
4. Repair or replace broken or damaged pipes, faucets, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures.
5. Ensure all plumbing work is compliant with Vanuatu's local plumbing standards and regulations.
6. Respond promptly to emergency plumbing issues and report major issues to management. 7. Maintain proper inventory of plumbing supplies and tools.
8. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Proven experience in plumbing, with a minimum of 3 years of work experience.
2. Knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
3. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues efficiently.
4. Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
5. Good communication and teamwork skills.
6. A trade certification or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.
