Organisation Description:
Nicon Shipping operates a fleet of vessels throughout Vanuatu, providing essential marine transport services across the islands. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team and help maintain the reliability and performance of our vessels and equipment. The successful candidate will work within our workshop facilities, shipyard operations, and onboard maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and marine mechanical systems
• Carry out scheduled maintenance and servicing to ensure equipment reliability
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and associated components
• Assist with vessel maintenance and repair work during slipway operations
• Perform fabrication, welding, and general workshop tasks as required
• Provide guidance and technical support to apprentice and junior workshop personnel
Requirements:
• Recognized qualification in Diesel Mechanics or significant hands-on industry experience
• Strong background in heavy diesel engine maintenance and hydraulic systems
• Competent welding and metal fabrication abilities
• Previous experience in marine, shipping, industrial, or related sectors will be highly regarded
