Job Overview:
We’re looking for a qualified Marine Chief Engineer to manage and oversee all mechanical systems aboard our 50-meter vessel. The role is crucial to ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient marine operations, reporting directly to the ship's command.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical System Management
Supervise all onboard systems: engines, propulsion, cooling, and auxiliary equipment
Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance
Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and manufacturer guidelines
2. Team & Safety Oversight
Lead the engine room crew, including mechanics and technicians
Enforce onboard safety protocols and ensure proper PPE usage
3. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
Analyze mechanical faults using diagnostic tools
Develop effective solutions to minimize downtime
4. Communication & Reporting
Prepare detailed reports on repairs, maintenance, and operational issues
Maintain regular communication with ship command and other departments
5. Watchkeeping at Sea
Manage mechanical watch during sea shifts
Monitor performance, respond to alarms, and adjust systems as needed
Coordinate with navigation officers to ensure smooth vessel operation
Selection Criteria:
Advanced skills in embedded mechanical systems.
In-depth knowledge of shipboard engineering systems.
STCW III/3 (Engineer 3000 KW) certification – mandatory.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
Strong leadership and diagnostic abilities.
