Job Title: Marine Metalwork Project Manager
Role Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Marine Metalwork Project Manager to supervise the modification of Landing Craft (LCT) vessels and the maintenance of our shipping fleet. This position plays a key role in ensuring marine fabrication and repair projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards.
The role covers full project oversight, including planning, workforce coordination, safety compliance, and technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead and supervise a team of up to 20 staff members, including welders, painters, and general workers, ensuring smooth project delivery.
•Enforce strict safety procedures and ensure all operations comply with maritime and industrial safety regulations.
•Oversee welding, fabrication, and structural modification works, ensuring timely and high-standard completion.
•Organize training and skill development for team members in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, plasma, electrode, oxy-fuel), painting processes (surface preparation, stripping, airless spraying), and basic vessel systems (electrical and plumbing).
•Plan project schedules, allocate manpower effectively, and manage materials to optimize productivity.
•Monitor procurement and ensure required materials are available on time to avoid project delays.
•Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and project alignment.\
Work Environment
This position may require travel aboard company vessels and occasional offshore work. Flexibility is essential, as urgent repairs or emergencies may require work outside normal hours.
Reporting Line
The Marine Metalwork Project Manager will report directly to the Technical Manager and will work closely with other operational departments.
Required Qualifications & Skills
•Degree or formal qualification in fabrication, welding, or a related field.
•Strong background in marine metalwork, including vessel modification and maintenance (especially LCT projects).
•Advanced hands-on experience in welding methods (MIG, TIG, plasma, electrodes, oxy-acetylene) and industrial painting techniques.
•Basic understanding of shipboard systems such as electrical and plumbing.
•Proven leadership ability to manage large technical teams.
•Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
•Good communication and coordination abilities across teams and departments.
•Strong commitment to safety standards, quality control, and operational efficiency.
•Disciplined, responsible, and capable of enforcing strict technical and safety protocols.
