Position Overview
VAN-PAWA LTD is currently seeking applications for the role of Operations Manager – Northern Division, based in Malekula. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational, technical, and administrative functions of the division to ensure alignment with the company’s long-term objectives and operational standards.
The Operations Manager will play a key leadership role in strengthening overall performance, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring electricity services meet regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and customer expectations.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising both technical and administrative teams while ensuring smooth daily operations across the Northern Division. Key duties include:
•Managing staff performance and providing guidance to technical and administrative employees.
•Overseeing electricity generation systems and ensuring renewable energy resources are utilized effectively where available.
•Supervising transmission and distribution networks to maintain reliability, efficiency, and public safety.
•Coordinating maintenance schedules and repair works for power plants, transmission infrastructure, and related equipment.
•Leading operational staff, including mechanics, line workers, and administrative personnel.
•Developing and implementing emergency response procedures for power interruptions, natural disasters, and operational disruptions.
•Ensuring administrative tasks are completed effectively and organizational procedures are followed.
•Supporting quality customer service by addressing complaints and ensuring customer concerns are resolved efficiently.
•Monitoring technical field operations and implementing strategic objectives directed by the company headquarters and board.
Qualifications & Experience
•A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or Management.
•At least five years of experience in diesel generator operations, technical maintenance, or similar industries.
•Previous leadership or management experience involving operations, maintenance, or project oversight.
•Demonstrated success in improving operational performance, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency.
•Experience working with renewable energy systems connected to power grids.
Required Skills & Competencies
•Knowledge of engineering software related to electrical systems.
•Strong understanding of power generation systems, including generators, turbines, cooling systems, and controls.
•Experience and knowledge in renewable energy technologies, especially solar and hydro systems.
•Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
•Strong leadership and team management skills.
•Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
•Strong technical troubleshooting and system diagnostic skills.
The ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and handle multiple responsibilities.
•High ethical standards, integrity, and professional conduct.
•Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Salary
Compensation will be discussed and agreed upon based on qualifications and experience.
