Organisation Overview:
The Bureau of Price Monitoring and Consumer Affairs oversees the pricing of goods and services, regulates markets when necessary, and promotes consumer protection in accordance with the Price Monitoring and Consumer Affairs Act No. 5 of 2023.
Position Summary – Price Analyst:
The Price Analyst plays a key role in supervising sectors involved in the trade of regulated goods and services under the Act. This position involves applying advanced data analysis and econometric techniques to assess business cost structures and maintain detailed pricing records.
The role also focuses on identifying irregular market behaviors such as price manipulation, unfair pricing practices, or collusion. In addition, the analyst acts as a bridge between the Bureau and stakeholders by translating complex economic data into practical policy recommendations and reports to support informed decision-making at the management level.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Forensic Accounting, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification preferred)
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in areas such as financial auditing, pricing analysis, market research, or economic modelling
•Strong expertise in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Stata, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar software)
•Knowledge of competition laws, regulatory systems, and market operations, particularly within Vanuatu or the Pacific region
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and understandable manner
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced regulatory setting
•Experience handling large datasets, building econometric models, and conducting simulations is an advantage
•Proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, including government bodies, industry groups, and consumer organizations
Salary:
Equivalent to Public Service Commission (PSC) Grade 7.2
