Program Coordinator (Vanuatu)

Description

Organisation Overview:
The role focuses on supporting and coordinating project operations across Vanuatu while working closely with regional teams and partner organizations. Responsibilities include encouraging the use of locally sourced aid and development materials by strengthening partnerships among businesses, government bodies, and humanitarian agencies to improve innovation and local capacity building.

The position also involves organizing workshops and training programs, managing arrangements such as venues, participant travel, accommodation, and materials preparation. In addition, the successful candidate will assist in producing workshop summaries, monitoring reports, and contributions to annual program and financial reporting.

Collaboration with regional coordinators across Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Samoa is required to ensure alignment of project activities. The role also includes promoting WASH initiatives, Mobile Makerspace activities, and monitoring efforts in Port Vila through awareness campaigns, digital content, blogs, social media, and participation in meetings or presentations. Attendance at WASH Cluster and related coordination meetings will be expected, along with carrying out any additional duties assigned by senior leadership.

Role Requirements:
Applicants should have proven experience in project coordination and administration, including report preparation and financial tracking. Experience arranging training sessions, workshops, or events is highly valued. Strong communication abilities in English, both written and spoken, are essential, alongside skills in developing communication materials such as newsletters, websites, and reports.

Knowledge or practical exposure to disaster response, WASH, food security, gender equality, and inclusion is beneficial. Candidates should also be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, including government departments, NGOs, and private organizations. The role may require travel within the region and field deployment during emergencies, including support for Mobile Makerspace activities. Basic technical understanding of equipment and inventory management is an advantage. Applicants must be citizens or residents of Vanuatu.
Preferred Qualifications:
A degree in management, development studies, finance, administration, technical communication, disaster response, or a related discipline is preferred. Familiarity with IT tools, research systems, and methodologies is important. Additional language skills, especially French, would be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both project management and technical or vocational fields.

Compensation:
The annual salary ranges from 2.4 to 2.8 million Vatu, depending on experience and qualifications.
