Organisation Overview:
Pierre Brunet Shipping Ltd is based in Port Vila and provides cargo transport services across local and international routes throughout Oceania. The company is also involved in maritime support operations, including salvage work and sea assistance missions in international waters.
Job Summary:
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance and technical operations of the company’s vessel fleet. This role ensures all ships remain safe, reliable, and fully operational by managing both onshore and onboard technical teams, as well as overseeing the resources needed to support fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Oversight
•Ensure all mechanical and electrical systems across the fleet are functioning properly.
•Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
2. Team Leadership
•Recruit, train, and supervise engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff both on land and at sea.
•Support skill development and promote strong safety and performance standards within the team.
3. Logistics Coordination
•Manage spare parts inventory, fuel supply, and other essential resources for vessel operations.
•Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers to ensure continuous support.
4. Compliance & Safety
•Ensure all operations comply with local and international maritime rules and safety regulations.
•Arrange inspections and audits to maintain required standards.
5. Project Supervision
•Oversee repair works, upgrades, and technical improvement projects for vessels.
•Control project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
Work Environment:
This position may require travel onboard vessels and occasional work at sea. Flexibility is essential, as emergency situations or urgent repairs may require availability outside standard working hours.
Reporting Line:
The Technical Manager reports directly to senior management and works closely with the maritime operations team to ensure smooth fleet performance.

Requirements:
•Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maritime Engineering
•Strong background in vessel maintenance and technical management
•Solid understanding of marine mechanical and electrical systems
•Proven leadership and team management abilities
•Knowledge of maritime safety standards and regulations
